AMA South Loop-Lakeside Press

American Montessori Academy’s Lakeside Press campus offers year-round, full-day programs for children ages 8 weeks to 3 years in a beautifully restored historic building. Located in the South Loop’s iconic Lakeside Press building, the campus combines the elegance of original architectural details with thoughtfully designed Montessori classrooms built specifically for infants and toddlers. Each space supports Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy of independence, movement, and purposeful exploration in the earliest years of life.

Opening in 2025, this new campus reflects AMA’s continued growth and dedication to providing exceptional early childhood education. With peaceful, light-filled classrooms and a nurturing atmosphere, Lakeside Press offers a calm and developmentally rich foundation for our youngest learners to grow, connect, and thrive.

About AMA South Loop-Lakeside Press

South Loop’s historic Lakeside Press building once printed classic children’s books — and now, it’s home to the next generation of readers, dreamers, and explorers!

The heart of learning at AMA’s South Loop campus thrives in orderly and beautiful environments in which our AMS / AMI Montessori Certified educators promote the development of each child’s true potential and ensure success for life-long learning. Each classroom was custom designed, uniquely suited to the needs of its students with defined spaces for each part of the curriculum and fully equipped with learning materials and child-sized features, such as reachable shelves, low sinks, chairs and tables — which are hallmarks of a Montessori classroom.

Outside, our expansive natural playground serves as an extension of the Montessori classroom, promoting safer, collaborative and more natural play and learning opportunities with ecosystem exploration and study.

At AMA South Loop, we enjoy an excellent student to teacher ratio across all programs, in which skills of independence, self-discipline, problem-solving and a secure foundation of early academic knowledge develop spontaneously within our unique learning environments.
